She is a Composer / Sound designer.
Charo Calvo worked for film soundtrack and sound design with Jan Fabre and Wim Vandekeybus, one of her last works being Antwerp Central (29th FIFA, Montréal Winner Grand Prix), directed by Peter Kruger and Monkey Sandwich from W. Vandekeybus presented at Venice Festival 2011.
She is now Professor Assistant in Composition for the Media at Mons Conservatory. Guest Professor at Rits Hogeschool on Sound Creation. She is also responsable for the coaching on Sound Design for DocNomads Joint Master Degree Documentary Film Directing, (Erasmus Mundus).
Her radio work has been selected on several festivals and contests.
Visual artists who live and work together since 1999. Studied at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem and the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. Their work is not confined to a specific discipline but often involves video, performance and participatory elements. In their work they are interested in collective and symbolic identities and the way they are constructed through myths, beliefs, memory, self design and the like. Apart from their own art projects, they collaborate with other artists as editors, cameramen and effects designers. They facilitate video workshops worldwide to various audiences.
Master in Architecture from the University of Engineers at Lima-Peru, she has studied film production at the INSAS, directing actors at the Ron Burrus studio in Los Angeles. She has directed 4 feature films and ten documentaries. All have been shown in selected festivals: Manheim, Toronto, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma Montreal, Berlin-Forum, San Sebastian and many have gotten several prices like: Art and Essai film price, First prize Poitiers, Jury price Taiwan TIDF, Jury Price FiDOC Chili. She has been teaching film production and directing actors in Escuela de los Baños, Cuba, at the art school in Lausanne (ECAL) at the INSAS and IAD in Brussels. The 56th Festival dei Popoli organised a retrospective of her work in 2015. Her last film Le chant des Hommes/Rising voices got the SACD prize 2015.
Jorge León studied film in Brussels (INSAS). His interests led him into the documentary field as director and director of photography. He’s been working as photographer and videomaker, with a.o. Eric Pauwels, Thierry De Mey, Benoît Lachambre, Meg Stuart. His films have been widely presented in film festivals worldwide and were awarded on several occasions. He’s been working as a dramaturg on several productions and together with Simone Aughterlony he directed stage performances. Jorge teaches documentary practice at INSAS.
Master in film directing INSAS, Brussels. Religious Science Laboratoire Audio-Visuel à l’Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes. Phd Cinématographie Sorbonne, Paris (promotor Jean Rouch). He was a studio lector at INSAS. Writer of novels and theatre plays. Realised and produced a number of documentary films.
Didier Volckaert is an artist and otaku. He created Optical Installations, made several award winning Documentaries and even a Fiction Feature Film. His main interests, apart from life, are Cinema, Japanese Pop Culture, Industrial Music & Art, Toys, Pirates & Piracy, Science Fiction, Eroticism and the Exotic. Didier is a coach and conducts both the Pre-Cinema / Databased Future seminar and the editing sessions.
Editing Coach 2018/2019
Sabine Groenewegen creates investigative work using speculative fiction in moving image and immersive mediations. Her audiovisual work been coproduced by Argos Centre for Art and Media and Spectre Productions and received support from the Dutch Broadcasting Foundation, Flemish Audiovisual Fund, Danish Art Foundation, Light Cone, and the Amsterdam Fund for the Art among others. She is currently developing a body of work which explores how the experiences of our ancestors are part of our present and future psychobiological reality.
Former SIC participant, Margaux Schwarz is part of the team for the coordination of the SIC programme 2018/2019.
She is a french artist and curator living and working in Brussels.
Her work explores, text, scriptwriting, video and performance, she is interested in language, the plastic dimension of orality and the dematerialization impact on human relations. Her recent works involves a series of conversational performances in public spaces and the writing of a scenario based on the figure of the « Caregiver".
Filmmaker and former SIC participant. Sophie Sherman is part of the team for the coordination of the SIC programme 2018/2019.
Master degree in Documentary Cinema from the Province University of Aix en Provence (Fr). Master degree in Fine Arts from the Fine Arts College of Marseille (Fr). She was then admitted at Le Fresnoy, Studio National des Arts Contemporains. She has made several documentery films and short fictions.
Artist and former SIC participant, Susanne Weck is part of the team for the coordination of the SIC programme 2018/2019. Master in fine arts from the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee, co-founder of the artist group FMSW, part of Repondeur Automatik.
