Biographie<\/h2>

Ruth Somalo est une artiste visuelle, conservatrice, chercheuse et \u00e9ducatrice espagnole bas\u00e9e \u00e0 New York depuis 2008. Elle s’int\u00e9resse \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation d’un espace sans jugement et non anthropocentrique pour discuter et embrasser les \u00e9motions, les mythes, la fragilit\u00e9, la mort et les rituels. Ses derniers travaux portent sur les tabous du corps f\u00e9minin, les maladies, les structures patriarcales et la m\u00e9decine narrative, les restes humains, les larmes, la gu\u00e9rison rituelle, les exp\u00e9riences de perte et l’h\u00e9ritage de la chasse aux sorci\u00e8res. Ses longs et courts m\u00e9trages ont \u00e9t\u00e9 projet\u00e9s dans des th\u00e9\u00e2tres, des festivals et des mus\u00e9es \u00e0 l’\u00e9chelle internationale. Elle travaille actuellement en tant que programmatrice principale au DOC NYC, \u00e0 DocumentaMadrid et au Architecture and Design Film Festival. Parmi les programmes qu’elle a organis\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re ind\u00e9pendante, citons \u00ab\u00a0The affection for small things\u00a0\u00bb (Cineteca de Madrid), \u00ab\u00a0Filming One’s own Ghosts\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Holy Fluids and Absent Wounds\u00a0\u00bb (Union Docs) et \u00ab\u00a0Broken Senses\u00a0\u00bb (Anthology Film Archives). Ruth travaille \u00e9galement comme mentor, instructrice de s\u00e9minaire et conseill\u00e8re pour des projets de non-fiction au Union Docs Center for Documentary Art. Elle est candidate au doctorat \u00e0 l’universit\u00e9 de Madrid et termine sa th\u00e8se intitul\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0MENDING OBJECTS : Le deuil, la r\u00e9paration et le soi dans la non-fiction contemporaine\u00a0\u00bb. Elle est membre de longue date du groupe de recherche Hist-Ex (Anthropologie de l’exp\u00e9rience) du Conseil national de la recherche espagnol, et travaille actuellement sur un projet qui r\u00e9\u00e9value le geste comme forme de construction communautaire et comme marque de distinction
