Wanneer Kurtis, een bekende travestiet die onvruchtbaar is geworden door jaren van fysieke belasting, 40 nadert, beginnen ze aan een reis met draagmoederschap om een ouder te worden. Een diep persoonlijke reis die vraagt om een totale heruitvinding, zelfs als dit betekent dat ze hun glamoureuze persoonlijkheid moeten loslaten die ooit hun overleving verzekerde.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n

Guillaume Thomas is beeldend kunstenaar, fotograaf en documentairemaker in Parijs. Afgestudeerd aan de \u00c9cole nationale sup\u00e9rieure des Arts D\u00e9coratifs in Parijs (2020) en de School of Visual Arts in New York (2017), onderzoekt hij intimiteit en de kracht van representatie door middel van fotografie, film, video, installatie, beeldhouwkunst en zeefdruk. Zijn werk belicht de mechanismen van normatief geweld en de strategie\u00ebn van emancipatie voor individuen die gemarginaliseerd worden door patriarchale en kapitalistische systemen – in het bijzonder vrouwen, kinderen, LGBTQIA+ mensen, raciale individuen, neurodiverse personen en mensen in precaire situaties.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guillaume’s eerste documentaire, Life Damages the Living (2021), geproduceerd door Le Fresnoy, volgt Valerie von Sobel’s reis van het door de Nazi’s bezette Boedapest naar Hollywood en werd gepresenteerd op Rencontres Internationales Paris\/Berlin in 2022. Zijn digitale installatie Ad Astra (2022), ook in samenwerking met Le Fresnoy, mengt traditionele technieken met moderne hulpmiddelen en verbeeldt een vloeiende geschiedenis van representatie. In 2022 ging zijn tweede documentaire, Pinned into a Dress, met drag supermodel Miss Fame, in premi\u00e8re tijdens de International Critics’ Week op het filmfestival van Veneti\u00eb.
