synopsis<\/h2>

Nam en Viet houden van elkaar. Beiden zijn mijnwerkers en werken 1000 meter onder de grond, waar gevaar en duisternis heersen. Kolen verdienen hun brood, terwijl ze het land en de zee vervuilen. Zwarte zee. Zwarte kolen. Gebrande kolen. Natte kolen. Stoffige kolen. Wanneer Nam besluit het land te verlaten via een smokkelaar die mensen verstopt in zeecontainers, ontstaat er een breuk tussen zijn liefde voor Viet en zijn eigen verlangens naar een andere toekomst.<\/p>\n

Tr\u01b0\u01a1ng Minh Qu\u00fd werd geboren in Buon Ma Thuot, een kleine stad in de Centrale Hooglanden van Vietnam. Zijn verhalen en beelden, die balanceren tussen documentaire en fictie, zijn ge\u00efnspireerd door het landschap van zijn geboorteland, jeugdherinneringen en de historische context van Vietnam. Zijn films zijn geselecteerd voor internationale filmfestivals en tentoonstellingen als Locarno, New York, Rotterdam, Kopenhagen en Busan.<\/p>\n

Viet and Nam ging in premi\u00e8re op Cannes in de sectie Un Certain Regard.<\/p>\n

Het gesprek met Tr\u01b0\u01a1ng Minh Qu\u00fd wordt gemodereerd door filmmaker Nicolas Graux (in het Engels).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n
