Programma<\/h2>
\n

In deze masterclass stelt Bo Wang zijn film An Asian Ghost Story<\/em> (2023) voor, als vertrekpunt om het potentieel van de speculatieve documentaire te verkennen.<\/p>\n

Vertrekkend vanuit zijn omvangrijke werk van het afgelopen decennium, waarin Hongkong vaak een centrale rol speelt, nodigt hij de deelnemers uit om te onderzoeken hoe men het onzichtbare en het \u201confilmische\u201d kan benaderen: de spookachtige krachten van de geschiedenis, het emotionele trauma dat zich aan directe verbeelding onttrekt, en de onzichtbare systemen van macht en kapitaal die stedelijke ervaringen vormgeven.<\/p>\n

Door deze thema\u2019s te verbinden met de \u2018geestachtige\u2019 aard van het filmmedium zelf, onderzoekt de masterclass hoe cinema een ruimte kan worden om de onzichtbare structuren van het hedendaagse leven zichtbaar te maken en ermee in dialoog te treden.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n

Biografie<\/h2>
\n

Bo Wang is een kunstenaar, filmmaker en onderzoeker, gevestigd in Amsterdam. Zijn werk werd internationaal getoond, onder meer in het Guggenheim Museum, MoMA, Garage Museum, op het International Film Festival Rotterdam, CPH:DOX, Visions du R\u00e9el, bij LUX, de Seoul Mediacity Biennale en het Sharjah Film Platform.<\/p>\n

Hij ontving verschillende internationale onderscheidingen, waaronder de New:Vision Award op CPH:DOX, de Golden Dove op DOK Leipzig, de O.F.F. Prize op Sesc_Videobrasil, en de prijs voor Best Documentary Short op het Sharjah Film Platform.<\/p>\n

Momenteel doceert hij aan LUCA School of Arts \/ Universiteit Leiden en rondt hij zijn doctoraat in cultuurstudies af aan ASCA, Universiteit van Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n
