Call for Projects

Call for Projects SIC 2027

The SIC 2027 call for projects opens on 1 June 2026 and closes on 12 October 2026.

—-

SoundImageCulture is a one year program in Brussels that accompanies filmmakers and artists in the development of their film project. At SIC, a group of coaches – renowned artists/filmmakers – and a group of peers will follow your project in a supportive and professional environment.

SIC has been thought by filmmakers for filmmakers and artists in order to help them break the solitude of the creation process.

It is a framework based on the idea of thinking by doing, on discussion around concrete audiovisual materials.

What we look for

  • We are looking for projects that are singular, authentic and push the borders of audiovisual language.
  • Our aim is to support the participant to develop their artistic vision fully.
  • We give priority to projects that already have visual materials, footage, sounds, photos

What we offer

  • Filmmakers, artists and thinkers brainstorm collectively on your project;
  • Personal mentoring;
  • Encounters with international guests allowing new viewpoints on your project;
  • Masterclasses and seminars;
  • Introductions to the local production facilities and infrastructures;
  • A public presentation of your work at the end of the cycle.

Collective sessions take place about every two months in Brussels, Belgium.
The spoken language is English.

What We Expect

  • To be present at the collective sessions
  • To bring new materials (rushes, edits, try-outs) to every session
  • To hold at least one meeting (max. 2 hours) with your personal coach in between sessions
  • To give feedback and assistance to your peers

Selection

Our selection is based on a project proposal for a film.

In one document, answer the following questions (maximum 2 x A4 pages):

  1. What is the subject of your project and why do you want to make it?
  2. What is the relation between you and your subject?
  3. What is the formal approach that you envision for the film? Is there a relation between your subject and the form you choose?

Save this document as a PDF and upload it using the application form below.
Feel free to add images to the document, as additional pages (max. 5 MB in total).
Documents with text exceeding 2 pages will be rejected.

In the form below:
In one link, of a maximum duration of 8 minutes, share your previous work(s) and/or audiovisual materials related to the project. This is not mandatory, but is very important to us. Please verify link and password (if any) before sending them. Please subtitle your video in English (we will not watch your video without subtitles).

Application Procedure

To send us your application, complete the following steps by Monday 12 October 2026 at 12pm noon (Brussels time):

  1. Complete the form below
  2. Upload the PDF document describing your project and answering the three questions (see above)
  3. Upload your CV (maximum 2 pages)
  4. Upload your profile picture + three visuals that accompany your film proposal. The profile picture and the visuals will be published on our website if your project is selected.
