Lázara Rosell Albear retourne dans le monde magique et réaliste de la Santeria ou Regla de Osha : la mystérieuse religion pratiquée secrètement par plus de 70 % de la population de Cuba, son pays d’origine. Le film mêle documentaire intime sur les règles et les rituels de cette tradition à des expériences personnelles, des recréations audiovisuelles, des performances et de la poésie. En fusionnant différents styles, le film devient un autoportrait subjectif de la réalisatrice. Après 10 ans de travail, le résultat est une œuvre à plusieurs niveaux qui recherche et questionne, à travers des niveaux de transe et d’hétérotopie, la place des croyances dans la quête universelle de l’homme pour sa survie.

Lázara Rosell Albear returns to the magical–realistic world of Santeria or Regla de Osha: the mysterious religion practiced covertly by more than 70% of the population in Cuba, her home country. The film interweaves an intimate documentary of this tradition’s rules and rituals, with personal experiences and audio-visual recreations, performance and poetry. By merging different styles, the film becomes a subjective self-portrait of the director. After 10 years in the making, the result is a multi-layered work that searches and questions, through levels of trance and heterotopias, the place of beliefs in the universal human quest for survival.
