A film as a quest, a landscape as a state of mind. For this case study, filmmaker Pierre Voland joins us to present GPS Signal Lost, a poetic exploration of desire, faith and disorientation.

We will watch the film in its entirety before engaging in an in-depth discussion with the filmmaker about the making of the work, tracing the paths, detours and discoveries that shaped its journey from intuition to finished film.

    Synopsis

A young man walks into winter, trying to fulfil his most hidden desires: a love encounter with another man, and an encounter with the absolute, and Christian spirituality. GPS Signal Lost tells about his inner journey featuring snowy landscapes of the Jura Mountains, a medieval courtly novel, and a gay dating app on a smartphone.

Shot on black and white Super 8 mm, the film takes us on a contemplative, ascetic quest, that intertwines the present time with a distant past.
