Als ik terugga naar het huis waar ik ben geboren en waar mijn vader is gestorven, kan ik het familieverhaal opnieuw lezen. Ik ben 7 jaar oud. Ons huis, dat mijn vader al jaren aan het renoveren was, brandt af. Hij besluit het voor de tweede keer te herbouwen. Hij besluit het een tweede keer te herbouwen.

Ce que je comprendrai bien plus tard, c’est qu’il construisait en même temps une histoire dans laquelle il allait nous enfermer. A travers quarante ans d’archives, j’établis qu’une domination s’est exercée à l’intérieur de la maison. Un processus d’émancipation est alors en marche.
