The project THE SOUND OF NORMALISATION is a collection of audio recordings that documents the sound culture of the Ultras group BRESCIA 1911 in relation to modern football and the wave of repressive measures targeted at organized supporters groups.

The recordings were taken over a period of 15 years and cover:

1) creation, uses and meanings of the chants

2) group principles and collective identity

3) audience participation and the process of social exclusion from the stadium

4) police repression and the political implications of the chants

5) the evolution of the drumming in relation to the drums ban-order of 2007.

Each recording comes with a short introductory text and is presented as a video with subtitles. The work has been published in 2018 by SARU, Oxford Brookes University.

Le projet THE SOUND OF NORMALIZATION est une collection d’enregistrements audio qui documente la culture sonore du groupe Ultras BRESCIA 1911 en relation avec le football moderne et la vague de mesures répressives visant les groupes de supporters organisés. Les enregistrements ont été réalisés sur une période de 15 ans et couvrent :
1) la création, les usages et les significations des chants
2) les principes de groupe et l’identité collective
3) la participation du public et le processus d’exclusion sociale du stade
4) la répression policière et la politique implications des chants
5) l’évolution des tambours par rapport à l’ordonnance d’interdiction des tambours de 2007.

Chaque enregistrement est accompagné d’un court texte d’introduction et est présenté sous forme de vidéo sous-titrée. Les travaux ont été publiés en 2018 par SARU, Oxford Brookes University.
