The screening (110 min) will be followed by a discussion about the processes involved in making these films and the working methods used. With particular focus on the sources—interviews, documents, texts—that, together, instill an idea.
Francisco Rodriguez Teare will then talk about the research process for the new feature film he is currently working on: Don’t Let Me Die Alone. The material of the process is photographs and videos and the explanation of the search for locations and characters. He will talk also about ethnographic material that was recently shot.
About
Francisco Rodriguez Teare is a Chilean artist and filmmaker based in France with a moving image practice, working primarily with film, video and installation. He studied film in Chile and then at Le Fresnoy, Studio National des Arts Contemporain in Tourcoing. Since 2014, he has been creating and exhibiting works in both film festival circuits and contemporary art contexts.
His works include the short films SAMANTA (2014), APPELS TÉLÉPHONIQUES (2015), UNA LUNA DE HIERRO (2017), WHY ARE THEY EQUIPPED WITH EYES? (2018), OCTUBRE AL MEDIODÍA (2024). The video installations and performances GOIS (2020), EL ORO Y EL PEZ (2024), COLORED PROCESSION (2024), THIS DREAM IS MINE (forthcoming) and the hybrid feature film OTRO SOL (2023).
His work has been shown at more than 150 events, including art shows and film festivals worldwide, in exhibitions and museums such as the Taipei Biennial at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TW), Stedelijk Museum (NL), VIDEONALE (DE), ¡Viva Villa! Collection Lambert (FR), Govett-Brewster Art Gallery (NZ), Fondation François Schneider (FR), Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles (BEL), Bienal de la imagen en movimiento (ARG), Birkbeck Institute for the Moving Image (UK), Jeune Création (FR), Loo & Lou gallery (FR), Arriving Elsewhere.
