synopsis
I can’t sleep. Just like my German grandpa and mom. Searching for the origins of our insomnia, I open the obscure archive of my long deceased grandfather Theo.
An archive, created especially for me, about Theo’s life during the Second World War. Here I come face to face with the echoes of my family’s past and unravel the stories my grandfather told to deal with his history.
The film is an intimate reflection on intergenerational trauma and the role stories play in the way we relate to others, ourselves and our history.
