“Pepsi, cola, water?” is a research- and visual arts project about the life and work of Sun Ra, the legendary jazz pioneer, bandleader, mystic and philosopher. The project focuses on Sun Ra’s concerts in Egypt in 1971 and consists of a series of exploratory works with public outcomes illustrating stages of work-in-progress. The resulting work will take the form of performances, jazz concerts, a publication, an exhibition at Medrar for Contemporary Art in Cairo and a video shot on location in Egypt in which Bogaert follows a local tour guide on a fictitious ‘Sun Ra Pyramids Tour.

“Pepsi, cola, eau ?” est un projet de recherche et d’arts visuels sur la vie et l’œuvre de Sun Ra, le légendaire pionnier du jazz, chef d’orchestre, mystique et philosophe. Le projet se concentre sur les concerts de Sun Ra en Égypte en 1971 et consiste en une série de travaux exploratoires avec des résultats publics illustrant les étapes du travail en cours. Le travail qui en résultera prendra la forme de performances, de concerts de jazz, d’une publication, d’une exposition au Medrar for Contemporary Art au Caire et d’une vidéo tournée en Égypte dans laquelle Tom Bogaert suit un guide touristique local lors d’un “Sun Ra Pyramids Tour” fictif.
