Synopsis
“Birthright Baba Blues” is a personal film-essay exploring Jewish identity through the lens of family history, memory, and political conflict. Centered on the relationship between the filmmaker and his Holocaust-survivor grandmother, Baba, the film interweaves archival footage, personal reflections, and the filmmaker’s 2015 Birthright trip to Israel. As the filmmaker grapples with his evolving understanding of Jewishness and her pro-Palestine activism, the film navigates the complex terrain of heritage, trauma, and contemporary political struggles.
