Layla, Layli and her Possible Dreams

Layla, Layli and her Possible Dreams
by Maria Harfouche

Synopsis

The film is about love and revolution from a feminine perspective. It is a journey I undertake to meet Sister Maryam in Iraq, Naghmeh and Mrs. Pourkasemi in Iran, and my mother Bahia in Lebanon. By reviving the tale of impossible love, Layla and Majnoun, I seek, through the thoughts of my female protagonists, to revisit this myth and to offer a new reading of it.
Layla in Arabic, Layli in Persian, means the feminine night. In this night, my Laylas, Laylis, tell their stories and share their successful revolutions. A struggle unites them, and a film brings us together.
