My Bellybutton has Changed Today
by Clara and Manon Baj
synopsis
My bellybutton has changed today is an intimate audiovisual correspondence between two young sisters, both artists, who underwent abortions one year apart, almost day to day. Living in different places, they revisit their experiences through a fragile and poetic dialogue of images, memories, and voices. Mixing family archives, still photographs and present-day footage, the film explores their bond between distance and closeness, as well their shared longing for motherhood, and the invisible traces left on the body. This experimental diptych is a portrait of sisterhood reflecting on choice, grief and silence.
